So much room

We bought this refrigerator and it took almost 2 months to get it delivered. It was a special order because it is white. But the problem was that the FIRST refrigerator that was ready to be delivered a month earlier, arrived at the warehouse dented in several places. So they had to reorder it. The refrigerator itself is super! We love the extra room in the freezer and fridge. I have lots more room that my previous refrigerator, even though it was 27 cu. feet. I think it is the placement of the ice maker in the door that lets me store more. The one thing that I think they could do to improve the design of this refrigerator is make the shelves adjustable. This fridge is quiet. Of course you will here the ice maker dumping ice and filling up with water. That's normal. Overall, we hope that this fridge lasts as long as our last one--30 years!

Lots to like, great lighting, shelf space, temperature (with factory setting of 3, the refrigerator is 34 F and freezer is -10 F) and door water and ice separately. We wanted adjustable shelves, but this is fine. Yes, the ice makes noise, but doesn't it always? I like having an air filter, but was surprised that it was missing! My wife picked the side by side so both refrigerator and freezer would have options to place items at eye level.

Like the extra wide shelves, 2 drawers in the freezer and 3 drawers in the fridge. Makes a little noise when the ice maker is filling, but nothing like the noisy Frigidaire that we had for less than 2 years and had 9 services calls on it. My wife did a lot of research, especially concerning quality. We believe we picked the right one for our home. The part keeping it from a five star was the need to adjust the doors and feet, luckily I'm a mechanic so just had to figure out instructions. Additionally the front feet have a rubberized foot. Moving the fridge just slightly caused the rubber part to tear.Suggestion,make the feet with a Teflon coating. To move or gain access to the back of refrigerator this would allow it to slide much easier. The fridge did not have it's air filter. Got ahold of Whirlpool customer service, a young lady by the name of Briana ,hope spelling is right ,on 29 July 2019,1515 hours Arizona time. It was very refreshing to have someone with a positive, help the customer, "Outstanding" attitude assist me.She diligently resolved the problem. I hope her manager will recognize her "Outstanding Customer Service". She is an asset to the company! Whirlpool, you're doing a great job. Keep up the good work!

Great Freezer Size

Only have had refrigerator for a month. Refrigerator is quiet and freezer size is great. Have read other ratings on loud ice maker. All refrigerators make noise when dropping ice. This one is a little louder because it is in the door.

Would have been a great refrigerator

Just took delivery of this side by side & it doesn't work. Water & ice in door does not work. The 2 doors do not line up. Other than that, it looks nice. Had to order another refrigerator which will take weeks to arrive. I am a retiree of Whirlpool & expected better quality than this.

We bought this a month ago mainly for the ample freezer space. Love the 2 drawers in the freezer and refrigerator area, they are very deep & roomy. Plenty of storage space also on the doors for large items. So far it's working great but it's only been a month. Read the reviews before we bought and Whirlpool rated very high for quality and affordability.

Good fridge with some flaws

Generally, we are happy with the size and capacity of this fridge/freezer. However, we are experiencing food freezing on multiple shelves near the back. Also, the ice cube maker is very noisy when filling with water and when releasing ice cube, both into the bin and into a glass. Also, we are finding that the refrigerator motor is noisier than we've ever experienced with our two former units from different manufacturers.

I got this new Refrigerator less than 3 weeks ago and already I love everything about it. So large and roomy nice and bright when I open the doors I have a place for all my food. This goes nicely with the new Whirlpool dishwasher I purchased back in January of this year.

Love the concept

2 broken door shelves and 2 screws for the top of the doors were missing when we purchased brand new. Went on website cost is $26 for shelves and same price for the screws. My husband went to Lowe's and found 2 screws that would work and I glued the shelves. Both work great now. Otherwise love it!! This is my very first brand new fridge and I am 40 so it made me happy.

Not enough ice, "fast ice" feature does not work

I went through a lot of research to finally make the decision to purchase this fridge. I was leary because of the ice bin looked small, so I did a live chat with a Whirlpool rep and she assured me that there is a feature called "fast ice" so that if you use a lot of ice, it will replenish it quickly. It does not work. It doesn't even fill the SMALL ice bin in the door over night. If you use a lot of ice don't buy this one. When the ice bin is full, it isn't much ice and it takes forever to refill. The fast ice feature does nothing and it doesn't even stay on, I have to manually turn it back on pretty much daily. Other people complained about this one freezing their food on the fridge side. It is true, it froze a bag of cooked noodles sitting on the second shelf close to the side next to the freezer wall, froze them SOLID. The factory setting for fridge is 37 degrees, I didn't change it and put a thermometer in the fridge and the temp is at 22 degrees. I manually turned up the factory setting to 40 and then the temp on my thermometer said it was 43 degrees. It is not accurate and very erratic. I would think that 37 would be 37, or at least close to it? I still have not figured out a good place to leave the setting for my regular food in the fridge. As for the space, this is the best thing about it. There is tons and tons of room in the fridge and with the ice in the door on the freezer, there is a ton of extra room there too. I wish there were baskets for the freezer shelves so that when you have bags of vegetables or fries you could put them in the bin, rather than set them on the shelf where they won't stay put and usually fall out. some type of basket or bin for the shelves would be a great help! you could pull it out and get what you want and then slide it back onto the shelf. I am going to try and find some baskets or plastic bins myself, but having them made to fit and come with the fridge would be great. I was torn when I bought this fridge between buying the same exact model I already had or getting this one. If I could go back, I would just buy the same one I already had (which was a Frigidaire) with the large ice maker bin that takes up the entire top shelf of the freezer because of how slow and minimal the ice is in this new Whirlpool. I LOVE the idea of ice in the door and if the ice replenished faster it would probably be OK but since it takes so long to fill such a small amount, I would go back to the large ice bin taking up the first shelf.

Great refrigerator, LOTS of room!

It came time to replace our old refrigerator, and we picked this one because of the features, price, and huge size. The ice compartment in the door gives a ton of extra room in the freezer. The only problem that we have had is that the delivery men broke a freezer door shelf, but it was quickly replaced free from Whirlpool. We're very satisfied with our purchase and follow up service!

Nice features....BUT

Had this unit a month now, and we have no complaints about the quality of the fridge thats for sure. The design team it seems quit right in the middle of the project however. Example, you can set the lights to normal, dim or pads. But no way to set it to leave the function lights on. They are a nice shade of blue by the way. that would be real nice to use should you want to get a glass of water in the middle of the night. Also it is virtually impossible to set the auto dispense to anything other than 8 oz. I mean wouldnt it be nice to put your glass in, push the button that is set to whatever size you commonly use and walk over to the counter or something while your glass is filling and then come back to get it. Ice maker keeps up with steady use. I would recommend this product.
